Dance Competition Award Planner
Enter the number of divisions, then the pieces each division awards, then any judges' choice, teacher or sponsor pieces and spares. For dance, a division is usually an age group combined with a size category, and each awards a set of overall placings. Encore Trophy Studio's planner totals those entries. It does not schedule sessions or tabulate scores.
Build your plan
For pairs or team prizes, include every individual piece in the per-division count. Use the quantity calculator for a separate participation batch.
The decision behind a dance studio presentation
One award for an ensemble and one keepsake per dancer are different orders. Use the actual recipient roster for each routine, particularly when dancers appear in several groups. Decide whether repeated appearances earn repeated pieces or a single season recognition before totaling.
Keep with your brief: Routine title, ensemble roster, category and presentation sequence.

Count a keepsake for every team member
Four divisions each recognize three two-person teams. Both members receive a piece, so the per-division entry is 3 × 2 = 6. Add two sponsor plaques and no spares.

Divisions × (awarded places per division × physical pieces per place), plus other pieces and spares
The example requires 26 pieces: 24 player awards and two sponsor plaques. It does not create a tournament bracket or decide the event’s award rules. Use the organizer-approved results and category names to prepare the inscription roster after the event format is settled.
How many trophies does a regional weekend need?
A regional director runs four age divisions, mini through senior, each split into solo, small group and large group. That is twelve divisions. Each awards first, second and third overall, and a group routine takes one shared Dance Competition Trophy, so the per-division figure is three. Twelve times three is thirty-six. She adds two Star Acrylic Dance Award pieces for the judges' choice awards as other pieces and leaves spares at zero. The planner returns thirty-eight. She sends Encore Trophy Studio the total with the division list attached, because the trophies for the senior large group division should be taller than the ones for mini solos.
Check these details before using the result
- Entering dancers instead of routines
- Group routines usually take one shared trophy. Count pieces per placing, not dancers per routine, unless each dancer receives a piece.
- Forgetting category awards alongside overalls
- If every style category also awards a placing, those pieces belong in the per-division figure or in a second run of the planner.
- Leaving out judges' and teacher awards
- Judges' choice, choreography and studio spirit awards are easy to miss. Enter them as other pieces so they appear in the quote.

Recital Award
Decide whether the award recognizes an individual performance or the whole routine. A shared ensemble trophy can lead with the routine title, while individual versions give every dancer's name the same prominence.

Dance Competition Trophy
Follow the event's published category names when preparing inscriptions. Age division, style and overall placement are different distinctions; select the ones needed to identify the result without shrinking every line to fit.

Star Acrylic Dance Award
Choose one recognition theme for the main line, such as artistry, progress or stage presence. The dancer's name should remain easy to see within the star shape, with the recital title kept shorter beneath it.

Full-Color Photo Dance Award
Start with the largest original image available, especially for a moving subject. A dramatic crop can work well, but leave space for the dancer's name without covering the pose or extending important details past the edge.

3D Dancer Motif Trophy
Use a reference pose that reflects the style being recognized. A ballet shape may not suit a hip-hop category; an original silhouette can make the trophy feel connected to the event without crowding it with graphics.

Does the planner tabulate scores or build the schedule?
No. It only turns divisions and placings into an award count. Scoring, session order and the awards ceremony run sheet stay in your competition software. Use the planner once the division structure is final, so the divisions and placings you enter match what will be announced on stage.
How do I count a division with only two entries?
Follow your published rules and handle that division separately. Some events still award first and second; others fold two small divisions together and award once. Run the planner for the full divisions, add the small one by hand, and note the rule on your list so the engraved division names match the announcement.

Write studio and teacher award inscriptions around an approved recipient, occasion and specific contribution, keeping appreciation separate from competition results and unsupported superlatives.
Build the recital count from unique approved recipients or approved performance entitlements, then keep show appearances and later handoffs in separate fields.
Count performers, routines and studio recognitions separately. Decide whether the award follows an individual dancer, a routine or the studio, then group the order by the presentation session. Keep the official category wording distinct from personal encouragement and teacher appreciation.
